TYPOGRAPHIC SYSTEMS
This task is focusing on the typographic systems. We were allowed to
choose one color extra. Personally, I've grown attached to the
transitional system.

Task 1 - Exercises
TYPE AND PLAY 1
This task is based on the explorative side of typography. We are to
choose an image or object in real life that we can extract letterforms
from. I chose to do a spiderweb, as it has plenty of opportunities to look
at different angles and how a type can be formed.

TYPE AND PLAY 2
This time, we are asked to integrate any type into an image. It has to be
believable. I created mine around the Northern Lights as it was a
challenge to manipulate the letters into looking like the lights.

KEY ARTWORK & COLLATERAL
The key artwork in this task is made for the collateral designs. My
imaginary job was to sponsor a tall ship race, and my name initials are
S, A. I created an anchor-and-rope artwork to encompass all the details
I needed.

TYPE EXPLORATION AND APPLICATION
For this task, I decided to create an experimental type. It's based on
a childhood activity where I would create holes using a needle or pencil
tip to add a shining night star effect to my drawings.

EXPERIENCE
My experience over the past 14 weeks has been impactful. Overall, the tasks were extremely fun and interesting to do. I wish we had more time to truly reflect upon what our direction would be for our projects, or simply more time to explore our types in detail. If there were any bad experiences in this module, it would just be the fact that we didn't have enough time. I love learning about typography and it has always been one of my favorite subjects because of how tedious it is. Throughout the past semester, learning the nuances of every letter has fascinated me, and I wouldn't change that experience for anything.
OBSERVATION
This module was heavily in detail about the expressive and creative side of typography. So much so, that I learned more than I ever had in my entire academic life. The real-world examples on a day-to-day basis helped with ingraining all of the knowledge from typography into my mind. Many times, I find myself having conversations with my friends about the way things are designed, and it always circles back to the typography and the organizing of everything. I observed that typography is the most important element that appears everywhere in design, and in history.
FINDINGS
From attending these classes and having examples brought to me by my friends, I managed to gain a lot of information about the typographic world. I understand now how big of a role typography plays in the world. Without it, there is no way to document any events or revelations. I'm not much of a writer, but I understand the importance of having everything documented. In the end, I realize that I have much to learn from typography, and I am willing to keep learning.
